Well….all the snow has melted and the sun is beaming here in Texas! What a wonderful time of year - a relaxing time - to hang outside with all my awesome neighbors sipping on a nice, tasty cocktail watching flowers bloom, listening to birds chirp, and having the kids laugh and play in the warm sunshine. I realize this is the PERFECT time to throw a Block Party to celebrate the upcoming Spring Season!

Every year, I write My New Year’s Resolutions and I say, “THIS YEAR, I am going to do EVERYTHING on the list!” THEN…usually, some time around April, I kinda “give up” on the list!

Well…a few things on my list for 2011(well… pretty much every year) are:

As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Sassy Ladies are proud to have donated a gift basket to Terri Arnold Chunn, a participant in the Skate For Breast Cancer private event to raise money for Terri's walk against Breast Cancer.

50% of the proceeds she raises from the private party will go to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation 3-Day walk for which Terri will be participating in.

To Gift or Re-Gift?

I am a great gift re-gifter but the best one would be my Mom. You learn from the best I guess. Re-gifting is when you take a gift that was given to you and you give it to someone else for a birthday, anniversary or Christmas gift or for whatever occasion.

You know, you get those weird gifts from people and your not sure what the heck to do with them, so you just hang on to them for fear that they might find out, or just plain guilt. You know, that Chinese vase from ABC that your friend gave you, or the manicure set that your in-laws gave you or the Gardenia candle that your boss gave you or better yet that Teddy Bear that was a “free with purchase” gift when you buy a greeting card.

Over time, they look more and more attractive to you especially if Christmas is coming up and you need a quick gift. Why not? Who would know? The deal is ~ if unused go ahead, we won’t tell!

According to the Money Management International (MMI) re-gifting is a-ok. So, no need to feel bad or guilty about it just do it and certainly don’t tell! I mean, why the guilt they have even made it a National Day!

December 17th is National Re-gift Day!

There are several guidelines though if you are going to re-gift:

Don’t re-gift used items, people do .. believe me
Don’t re-gift monogrammed or personalized gifts
Don’t re-gift an item that has been given for free or a promotional gift (free with purchase)

Good things to re-gift are:

Jewelry (new)
Bath sets
Household items
Candles
Gift basket items

Think really hard about the gift that you are re-gifting because people have made the mistake of re-gifting to the original giver. Talk about awkward, how do you explain that? So, add a bow, or add a new tag or re-wrap but please make sure you dust it off before giving it. And please… don’t give gift cards that you have already used some of the amount..

The Holidays are Coming!

The holidays are almost here - and the Sassy People around here are busier than ever!

First news of the day - we've opened a booth at the brand new Antique/Craft Mall in Irving, Texas - and it's keeping us all really busy! There's a great sampling of ALL our products there - and you can go there anytime and purchase with ease. It's got a little cafe, and custom framing on site! Cheers!

Also, we're adding some new products this week for the holiday season. We have our tried and true favorites still - and reorders, restocking is going on now. However, new stuff includes WINE GLACE (neat drink kits to add to wine to make really great WINE A RITAS!), ATTITUDE TEES (stylin' fitted t-shirts), and more jewelry and handbags! Whoot!

Plus, we'd like to thank KARI BOOZER, who's getting married on December 8th, for selecting us to handle custom gift baskets for her bridal party. We're working on those too, with some special something's for each of them, hopefully will make it a special day for all.

Summer is in FULL SWING, and we are BUSY!! It's good news, too. The Spring Party was about a month or so ago, and was a nice success. We will be planning on doing these twice a year for local friends & family. Once again, the shabby-chic windchimes were popular, along with the new jewelry and the new handbags.

You will see that we placed the totes and bags in our new E-Bay Store - which is designed to sell items that either 1) we don't have consistent stock or 2) we are moving out so that we can have new stuff during the season.

The bags & jewelry have both been a huge hit locally, so check back often - for designer inspired bags at really low prices! In fact, our jewelry line was just spotted at STEIN MART for approxmiately 20% more than our prices. We are getting new stuff in all the time, so please check out the jewelry and give us a call if there's something you would like to see.

And, of course, we won't tell your secret of carrying a hot new bag without that designer pricetag. We are on YOUR side. :)

Hey! Is there anyone out there? Or are you all 'lurkers'??

I just learned that LURKER is the term for people who read a blog, but don't leave a comment. Since we have ZERO comments, I am going to hope (pray?) that I am not writing these notes to myself - but to zippy LURKERS out there who just don't like to leave comments. Yes? No? Maybe?

So-Sassy! will be launching it's site in the next few weeks, and you better believe - the So-Sassy! Anything™ Oil will be a hit.

It's amazing, you see.

Originially designed for shaving, as a pre-and-post shave oil for both men and women, it was called "Sassy-Shave". But - it has evolved into something much more. After selling a few bottles, I received e-mails and phone calls from people using it for all sorts of stuff:

Shaving Oil: wet legs/face - area to be shaved - and then rub a few drops of Anything™ Oil into the skin. Shave directly on the oil, rinse razor and pat skin dry.

Cuticle Oil: use anytime and anywhere. The oil is non-greasy and moisturizing!

Hair Oil: rub a few drops into palms and work through hair just prior to drying hair for a smoothing and softening effect.

Wrinkle/Line Minimizer: apply a drop on your facial lines - on your lip, brow and frown lines, smile lines - do this in the shower (skin wet) or out (skin dry).

And there's more. I have gotten tons of great feedback from both men and women about this product. It's all natural - an exclusive blend of natural and essential oils formulated to be non-greasy, healing and moisturizing. It's all three.

Plus - it is my understanding that people of color (Black, Hispanic, Native American) sometimes experience an 'ashy' tone at elbows, knees and dry patches that seem to come with the territory. This happens to me too (I am Caucasian) but those patches are RED! Either way - this oil seems to help those problems too.

Well - one of our three has quit her day job to become a work-at-home-mom. Kari will now be managing Kari and Company from her home - doing simple websites, graphic creation and editing, and other projects on a contract basis.

Of course - you might know too - that she has been creating some bath, body and home smell-good sass in her kitchen these days. First it was called Bath Sass - but this limited us to the bathtub. So - we will be changing the name to So-Sassy! and it will include handmade, all-natural lip balm, body butter, bath salts and scrubs, milk bath and a really cool shaving system - unique to So-Sassy! Look soon for a new logo and website.

Special thanks on this Friday morning to the Irving High School cheerleaders - who invited Sassy to attend thier banquet last nite. The girls are awesome, and Kim had a blast at the party. La Cima was where the banquet was held; high above Williams Square in beautiful Las Colinas, Texas.

It is awesome to get linked up with directories and other sites, we are hoping now to be getting a listing as well on the Indie Collective. We will let you know!

A New Year, A New Store!

There are so many neat things that are up and coming - and we can't wait to share them all with you.

The Dallas Market will be January 17-23, and we are sure to find some fun stuff to bring you from there.

We have also been searching the web and other sources for handmade and unique things (like the new soaps we will be carrying in IRVING SCHOOL COLORS!).

Have any ideas you would like to see us get in the middle of? We want your feedback - in fact - we thrive on it! We want to know what we can do to serve you better, and what kinds of zany things you are looking for your neighborhood gift shop to carry.

In these next weeks, we will write posts about how we came up with the idea for Sassy, who has supported us and cheered us on, who has gotten in our way and caused us trouble, and a little sneak peak about what to expect in 2007 and beyond.

Our Preview Party in December was a smash! Thanks to everyone who came and took part in our first endeavor as Sassy Stationery and Gifts. We had a ball watching the trends of what was selling and what wasn't - seems that the Whipstirs and the Vintage Shabby-Chic Windchimes were the hit of the party.

As you know, our online boutique is open - but when will we have a physical storefront? We are located in Irving, Texas. And, Irving is a tough place for a business; we must select "just the right spot" for our festive, 'sit-a-spell' storefront.

We want it to be a neighborhood favorite and somewhere you go often. We want you to be able to call us up, or visit our website and tell us what you need - and know we will be able to assist you in that perfect gift. And of course - we want you to chat with us while you are there - and find the perfect gift for that hard-to-buy-for person in your life.
